Suzuki Motorcycles
Overview
Suzuki Motorcycles are among the most popular in the world; however, this great company had very a very humble beginning. In 1909 Michio Suzuki manufactured Silk Looms until about 1952 due to financial problems Suzuki ventured into developing clip on engines to bicycle frames. The first model was called the Power Free (36cc) and the follow-up model was the Diamond Free (60cc). Suzuki Motorcycles produced its’ first official motorcycle in 1954 called the Colleda (90cc).

Suzuki Motorcycles built small capacity bikes during the 50’s and 60’s and had only small export success until the introduction of the X6 (t20 super six) which helped build Suzuki motorcycles as a contender in the motorcycle industry.

With some success Suzuki started building bigger cc bikes and in 1967 Suzuki motorcycles introduced T500. The name changed over the years to GT500 due to many improvements but the reasonable price and good reliability kept the GT in production until 77.

The water buffalo (GT750)was introduced in 1971 which marked of the superbike market. The GT750 wasn’t a very impressive machine but the market responded to it’s price point and reliability. In 1976 Suzuki introduced the first GS750 which 750 managed to out perform all of it’s rivals of the time.

Suzuki Motorcycles introduced the GSX1000 in 1980 and the GSX1100S Katana in 1982. The Katana was a huge success due to it powerful performance, unconventional style, low weight and good pricing.

In a stroke of brilliant marketing Suzuki motorcycles introduced the GSX-R750 which was such a direct copy of their formula race bike - only this motorcycle street legal. Both on the street and in the race track the bike was a huge success. In 1986 the GSX-R1100 was also added to the line.

In the 1990’s Suzuki motorcycles introduced the GSX-1300R (hayabusa) which smashed the land speed record at a 190 mph.

Suzuki Motorcycles continue to launch cutting edge motorcycles that are known for their quality and innovation. Two of the latest Suzuki Motorcycles to be launched are the B-King and the heavy weight cruiser M109.
